SummerTime

RockyDog here. It's been busy and now summer is here. Peter and I are off running through the sprinklers and chasing frisbees in the park.

Check back in. I may have time to post once I wear that kid out.

Mr. S

The old RockyDog did it again. I crept into school again. I hung out in Mr. S’s class. Peter says Mr. S is one of his favorite teachers.

Mr. S’s class was in the computer lab when I snuck in. Dog, you should have seen those kids pound the keyboard. I wish I could type on a computer. These dang paws are too clumsy and get in the way. Peter’s lucky. He can type on a computer. He’s fast, too.

C-Dub's Class

Yo. RockyDog here. I snuck into Peter’s school today. I was in CW’s class, but I don’t think any of the kids noticed me. Peter didn’t even know I was there. CW saw me.

C-Dub’s kids were awesome. We got to do some writing. The kids tried to write a description of me. None of them got me right, but they sure did describe some of my poochie pals. But they made me hungry. They said I probably had a round nose like a meatball, and chocolate pudding eyes. Those guys are some great writers.

DWDS*

Oh My Dog. Summer vacation just ended and Peter went back to school. I call it summer vay. Where did that summer go?

Peter and Max and I played all summer. Except when Peter had to go to the Hawthorne family reunion in July. Grandma Ginny wanted Peter to bring me but Mom said I had to stay home and guard the house. Poor Grandma Ginny.

We went to Barkity Park everyday and Peoples Park probably every other day or more. Peoples has a pool but dogs have to be on leash. Kiddie pools around the neighborhood work just as well. We swam a lot plus you don't have to be on a leash. And we ran through every sprinkler that was on. Plus the creek. We went swimming there. We got wet about every day during summer vay.

We went out to Claytor Lake once too. Peter and Max rode their skateboards but I still could keep up with them. And what kind of boards do Peter and Max have? I will personally give a DWDS* to anyone who can tell the kind of skateboards they have. Its in the book. All you have to do is read the book Peter and I wrote and leave a comment below. It's called RockyDog and it stars Peter and Max and yours truly, the old RockyDog.

*DWDS -  Dripping Wet Dog Shake -  that's when you're all summer hot and want to cool down so you send a dog into a pool (or a creek or lake or sprinkler) and then stand right next to them when they come out of the pool and DWDS, you just got soaked. Act quickly because if Peter is going back to school, that means it's going to start cooling down and DWDSs are so much better in the summertime.

A Contest. Cool

RockyDog here. Now that I finished my first book ever, I thought it would be barkin' fun to enter a contest. So that's what I'm going to do.

You could enter a contest, too, if you write a book. But you better hurry for this one. The contest closes tonight. I went to Chuck Sambuchino's Guide to Literary Agents site for the contest. The old RockyDog has been looking at Chuck's site for quite a while. Here is the URL: http://www.writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/guide-to-literary-agents/11th-free-dear-lucky-agent-contest-middle-grade-fiction

Tell them the old RockyDog sent you.

Yo, Dawgs. It's me, RockyDog

I just finished writing my first book. Can you believe it? A dog actually wrote a book?

Yeah, I can believe it.

I didn't write the whole thing myself. My human, Peter, helped and if you had read my first book, that book I just finished writing, you would know how we did it. It explains it in the book.

Me and Peter, excuse me, that should be Peter and I. Anyway, Peter and I wrote it together. He did the actual writing because if you had read the book, you would know that we dogs don't have the ability to use a pencil and write actual words on a sheet of paper. It doesn't look like writing at all. I tried keyboarding on the computer but that was a mess. So you really need a human around to write a book.

I gave Peter the ideas. He added some of his own, but mostly he wrote what I told him to say. Dogs can read, of course, and we're pretty good at math. That's a fact. Google it if you want. But to do the actual writing part, good luck finding another animal to do that. Humans are the only ones who can write. Monkeys, too. I think most of the primates can, though lemurs have trouble with spelling.

Anyway, just wanted to share the news. Peter and the old RockyDog did it.

Now, can you guess what I look like? I'll give you a hint. I look like a dog. Write a description of what you think I look like. You can draw a picture, too. The ones who get the closest will get a lick from me, RockyDog.
